Mini base Event Posted by sentinel on Thursday 12th June, 2003
The mini bases in the new map are great and all, but it would be neat if they get updated once in a while. That's why i decided to do a contest for all the little map makers out there. The minibases will need to have the same outer shape like they have now. Only the inside is all yours to decide. You can only submit 1 minibase and do it before 20 June. Everyone will be able to see the submitted minibases in ?go minibase and the winner will be decided by a voting. The 2 minibases with the most votes will be updated in the main map with your name next to it. And maybe a bty prize or something =)
When you want to submit your minibase, make sure to include: - The minibase as lvl file. - Your nickname.
and sent it to starwarzone@yahoogroups.com
The voting will start after the 20th of June.
Good luck =)

Duel Tourney: ReLoaded! Posted by redthomas on Friday 16th May, 2003
After some problems with Wild the 2 vs 2 tournament was held anyway in ?go tourney today....
There were 12 teams of 2 playing! First rounds went pretty well, but I'm sure all you geniouses can see a problem coming: After round 1 6 teams were left (Based on immediate elimination), and after round 3 we had 3 teams in the finals. Innocent Bystander who had teamed up with ea$y, Slayer of Men played with G Force, and last but not least we had fox-1 and Evil's Son.
Was supposed to become a 2 vs 2 vs 2 final, but about 50 seconds into the game fox' and evils' ISP died, so it was back to a normal tourney which SoM and GF finally won by 3-2.
GG to all contestants, and tune in for the next event!

Poll Results, New Poll Posted by wald0 on Friday 28th February, 2003
Our last poll wanted to know whether or not you, the players, would participate in SWZL Gambling. This poll was fairly split:
Yes: 31 (53.45%) No: 27 (46.55%)
58 players submitted their vote for this poll in total.
Our next poll is designd to determine at what time most people play in SWZ during the day. Poll results, New poll - SWZL Gambling? Posted by wald0 on Tuesday 11th February, 2003
The last poll, "Your opinion on neuting" game some somewhat expected results. Of the 51 people who voted, 72% said that neuting adds more strategy and interest to the games. 17% said that neuting is for lamers, and a whopping 9% said it didn't make that much of a difference.
The next poll comes straight from the horses mouth - a kentucky derby horse that is. We want to known what you think of SWZL Gambling - a new side-game where players wager fake money on league matches and can then purchase ship upgrades - and whether or not you would participate in it. Interesting poll results, and new poll. Posted by wald0 on Tuesday 28th January, 2003
Thirty-two people voted in the lag rocket poll, showing that most people didn't really seem too enthused about lag rockets. Detailed results:
They r0x0red my b0x0rs: 1 (3%) They were ok...: 8 (25%) Lag rockets? Where?: 4 (12%) They weren't very good...: 4 (12%) OMG they were lamer than freq hopping!: 15 (46%)
The league preference also showed interesting results, showing that SWZFL is growing in popularity and has almost caught up with SWZL. 17 people said they prefer SWZFL, with 19 siding with SWZL. A whopping ONE person prefers SWZT! w00t!
With neuting legal for the next two weeks, we're asking for your input on how it affects the zone. Head on over to the voting booth and vote, then send us a comment directly from the voting booth.

10 Mill game on sat! Posted by maddok on Wednesday, September 25, 2002
Just a reminder that swz will be hosting another 10 mill game this Sat (28th) so make sure you get there any bring your squaddies as well. Last time the jackpot went up to an awsome 30+ mill points after MANY long hours of flagging. The game is expected to start around 6pm EST time, but come early if you can just in case. And always remember, winning isn't suppost to be everything, but not being a loser is all that counts in the end. =P
SWZFL Season II news Posted by Wild. on Monday, August 26, 2002

The "10" million game winners! Posted by Wild. on Sunday, August 25, 2002
The 10 mill game was surely a big game last night! Starting of at 8pm EST with 10 mill, the game went on for many hours to finally end up at 30 million points at around 4am EST! That's a new jackpot record for the zone, congrats to -> those who won <-, and to those who flagged hard to get it there.
Playing with 4/5 privs and a pub freq really made it a nice game. Quite soon in the beginning one freq ended up with 14 flags, and another with 1. You can imagine it's hard flagging when 3 freqs all attack the same enemy :P after that someone neuted a whole bunch of flags, ending up with 5 freqs with flags, heh that was probably a reason why it went on for 8 hours :)
Anyways, great flagging all, really nice showup from all those people, thanks for that! see ya in the zone.

New Ship Designs Posted by CuervoMuerte on Tuesday, July 23, 2002
Well these have kinda been in the works for a while on and off. but recently put up in ?go research are ships 1-6. the ships are as follows (not all are from the movies):
Imperial 1. Tie-Interceptor 2. Skipray Blastboat (right now it is a 3 tile ship but will/can be shrunk for main) 3. V-38 Assault Fighter
Rebel 4. Y-Wing (right now it is a 3 tile ship but will/can be shrunk for main) 5. X-Wing (i need to recolor it slightly to match the A-Wing better) 6. A-Wing
the new choices for the imperial fleet were do mainly to me hearing a lot of people complaining about the gun boat, and the tie bomber.
Now for the main reason why this is being posted. 1. What should be the rebel and imperial cap ships? 2. What do you think of the choices for the imperial and rebel fleets 3. What do you think of the appearence of the ships 4. Should I dye my hair purple or red next week
i started a forum post Here so that opinions are all put in the same place
For those of you that want them the ships do come with roll files although the choice between a 1.1MB lvz file and a 100KB lvz files have led the rolls to be a seperate download. you can find them here just unzip the rolls to your Continuum\zones\SSCX Star Warzone\research directory.
Some tips if you have trouble getting the rolls working, try quiting and leaving continuum sometimes it just needs to reload the graphics. if you have special ship graphics you use for swz main arena try removing them before entering research. you really shouldn't have trouble getting the rolls to work but sometimes they can be touchy

BOT banner contest Posted by maddok on Saturday, June 1, 2002
Just a quick notice and request about the bot swz banners. Firstly, the reason one has not been chosen yet, is because due to recent... unforeseen accidents, I lost most of the droid banners submitted for the contest. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to recover them, or my hard drive. This would be why no winner has been decided on for the swz bots banner.
In all fairness I'd like to get all the banners re-submitted, as well as any late players who'd like a last chance to submit an R2D2 banner as a possible for the swz main bot. So, if you have an R2D2 banner you'd like to see on the bot, have previously submitted, or have the talent and are now reading this, please send them to me at maddok@shaw.ca
I hope to close this thing in one week ( June 8th) so please try your best to get them in before then.
My apologies for any inconvenience to those who's banners I lost, I'm really sorry about that.

So the next time you see Zero + in the zone, take a second to congratulate him on his hard work :)
Saturdays 10 million game! Posted by RedThomas on Sunday, May 5, 2002
There was lots of fun to find during yesterday's 10 mill game! We had a few competitive freqs fighting for those 15 shiny babies.
It had all the ingredients a 10 mill game should have: ALWAYS those IRRITATING flankers (:P), betrayal, wallbombing, and offcourse winners. I believe our max number of players was 66 (not sure tho, heard hydra say something like that), and the final jp was won after an hour. JP was 15.4 Mill!

10 mil game a huge success!! Posted by wald0 on Sunday, April 7, 2002

Miew demoted to Modlet!! Posted by Gold_Leader on Tuesday, March 5, 2002
Thats right, I have decided to demote the infamous, evil Sysop Miew to Mod Cadet!
The real reason for this post is to direct people to the Hall of Fame voting group, http://groups.yahoo.com/group/swzhof/
Im quite done with people on the boards, who are posting nonsense because they dont know whats going on. Anyone can join this group who is a veteran of some repute. Staff members are discouraged from joining. Voting is currently underway in regards to best warbird. And no, its not a category for duelers, read deep into the meaning of "best warbird" and you will see how complicated this is. A dueling category is seperate and will come later.
Here is a refresher course: Hall of Fame> Famous People Who have done important things, or affected the zone. This is for sentimental reasons, nothing more. Hall of Infamy> Famous People who have done evil things, and affected the zone. This is also for sentimental reasons. Hall of Records> {includes}
A)Best of overall Top 10 categories for ships 1-8 -yes, including caps, skill in ALL areas of SWZ taken into consideration. This is NOT a category for duelers, though this is a part of the "skill" considered. Please understand the meaning of "overall"... B)Best Duelers top 10 C)Best Flaggers top 20 D)Most underrated Flaggers top 10 E)Best League Players top 10 F)Best Elim Players top 10 G)Misc short records section, for high scores, ratings, rare records like most deaths, highest bounties, etc... H)Whatever we feel needs to be added at a later date!
I would like to state that there is very little staff on this voting group. The more staff hating playerbase I have to vote, the happier I will be. There is no nazi Agenda, and all vets who have demonstrated the ability to act sanely without ego tripping are welcome to join. (I just wonder if I should kick myself out for that or not).
Anyway, we are still voting on overall warbird. This group will send you lots of emails, and the voting goes very slow. If you are a fan of complaining on the boards, fine. If you want to cast your vote, fine. Your choice. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/swzhof/ In the end, this is supposed to be a *game* about *fun*, dont try to turn it into a frigging beauty pageant, with all you ladies tearing eachothers hair out.
Oh, and I guess the evil Miew can have his Sysop back now, he has learned his lesson :)
miew promoted to sysop!! Posted by wald0 on Friday, March 1, 2002
miew has been promoted to SWZ Sysop by our friendly zone owner, Force.
miew has been part of the staff for quite a while and has become essential in many matters with regards to how to help the zone run and bring in new targe.. um, increase the population and still maintain the player-base. All the details on the technical side of the sysop job, he is still fine tuning and we have complete confidence that he will be able to get his bearings quickly.
He doesn’t come into this position with any false impression of sovereignty, but after several months of the zone being sysop-less, he has learned how to work well as a team with the staff and suggestions for pilots (either directly to him or to the other staff members.) Suggestions had been made to Force, the zone owner, and his final choice did not come lightly. For anyone who has been a part of SWZ will know that changes do not come without lots of forethought and planning.
Please DO NOT bombard him with suggestions and comments while in the zone. It is impossible for him to answer all your questions at once, but send email to mom@zetasquad.com for the interim until we finalized the SWZ-Suggestion yahoogroup, where anyone can send constructive criticism, comments, suggestions and general help questions to. The mails will then be ferreted out to the person who can best answer the email.
We are currently trying to organize a better system of communication between the pilots and the staff to help make your zone better.
Please keep in mind some of the upcoming experimental changes to the zone in the next reset:
1. ShipBot is going on SPRING BREAK. The mods will be asking you to politely get a clue and get the right ship. More details to come 2. SWZ Suggestion Board 3. Staff Applications will be accepted again for the quarter
Again, CONGRATULATIONS to miew!

HoF update Posted by Gold_Leader on Saturday, February 23, 2002
I just wanted to let everyone know that voting for the hall of records is now underway, we are starting with best warbird category. I will post the winners of each category as we get them.
As a reminder, there will now be three sections to the HoF, 1)Hall of Fame (famous people who influenced the zone *Captain Harloch, etc*) 2)Hall of Infamy (famous people who have done nefarious deeds *GTC*, etc) 3)Hall of Records (Top 10 Best of categories *WB, Flagger*, etc)
Also of note to the zone itself, pointman has instituted the use of ships 7 and 8 for private freq flagging. Check out the pros and cons of each new ship, which add a whole new flavor to SWZ priv nights.
New Dutch Subspace Convention!! Posted by Wild. on Wednesday, February 6, 2002
I've got this message from LLC, who is organising the 2nd dutch SS convention of this year :) I hope everyone who can will come, last time was l33t stuff. (pics of last ss con: http://homepage.kub.nl/~s622125/sscon/sscon.html)
First of all I'd like to ask everyone to sign up to the yahoogroups as soon as possible. Because I will probably only post new information there, from now on.
The convention will be held in a Dutch City named: Alphen aan de Rijn (about 40-45 minutes by train from Schiphol, the airport). The convention will last from the 11th of august until the 14th of august (that's a four day party). The costs are estimated on 100 Euro (for 4 days) for each person (this isn't final though).
For these 100 Euro's: We'll have a huge building all for our own (75 people can stay and sleep there) Breakfast, Snacks and Dinner (only in the building though, not when when we go to the city sometime during our four day stay) Unlimited drinking (this is also only within our building) Medical care if needed (there will be a sober person with First Aid Diploma's present at all times, in case something happens)
But ofcourse everyone WILL be a guest. We expect that you will behave yourselves.
I really hope all 75 seats will be filled, if you need more information then do not hesitate to mail us at: ss_convention@hotmail.com
If you are really interested then join our yahoogroups by sending a mail to: ss_convention-subscribe@yahoogroups.com (when you subscribed, you'll be able to receive messages from the entire group, you can then also mail the entire group by mailing to: ss_convention@yahoogroups.com)
Hope to hear from you soon...

possible change in server ip Posted by miew on Thursday, January 24, 2002
A little bird has told me that it is likely that the ip for sscx will change sometime tomorrow. I'm told that the ip might not change but most likely it will. This will only effect players still using the VIE Client. It also implies that there might be some downtime tomorrow.

HoF "Commission" Posted by Gold_Leader on Monday, January 21, 2002
"Gee, GL, I sure think being on a *Commission* would be cool. Its such a nifty word. Hook me up, you suave subspace stud, you."
If you can remember what Captain Harloch wore to his first drunken sheep wrestling fest, or the time Tailchaser was sexually confused, apply to this egroup- http://groups.yahoo.com/group/swzhof/
Only Really Old vets who know Moomaster's shoe size , and maybe one or two newbies to even things out will get in. We will vote on who is Top Ten of EVERYTHING, in the entire history of the zone. So you have to know your history. Dont fret if you dont get in, its gonna be small (Aiming for 7, max of 10)
However, Cashiers checks and Money Orders accepted at random.
BtW, .37 is gonna own so much, I wish you could all see the stuff that is planned for release in this zone :) AWESOME!
(untitled) Posted by Gold_Leader on Friday, January 18, 2002
Alright Im back from my work trip, and ready to get more work done on this HoF project. FYI it has now mutated into three seperate projects, all which will fall under the "Hall of Fame". When you click on the HoF (after we finish this grueling work!) you will actually see the "Hall of Records". Then you will find two spiffy little links to the other two areas, "Hall of Fame" and "Hall of Infamy" (I may be able to get the HoF link changed to HoRecords. heh.heh.)
Hall of Records: So many of you have been bitching for this since day one. This will be what so many of you think of as the "best of" area. There will be best of up to 10 in each ship, or each category. Beside each name will be a note of Old settings or new.
Example> Warbird: 1.Cabbit (old) 2.Gold_Leader (old) 3.Undead (new) 4.Jade (new) 5.Dorkmaster (old) 6.Momlover (new) 7.Flaming newb (new) 8.Cabbit (new)
etc... In this way we will account for overall best of, no matter what settings where in use. Yes, a person may be in twice in one category for both settings, in very rare cases. We will be forming a small email group of vets to vote and what not. Stay tuned.
Hall of Fame A subsection, this will be where all the very important people will go. Their ship skill will be noted of course, but what is more important here, is what they have done positive for the zone. Be it mods, squad leaders, or great personalities with a social influence... Exactly what is *currently* in the HoF, with the exception of people accused or confirmed of cheating by Mods (and other shady behavior) will have to move on down to the Hall of Infamy.
Hall of Infamy Another subsection, this is where all you flagrant whiners and ego masturbators go. All you mega cheaters and the ex players who have been large personalities, or influenced the zone, but in some strange way to garner the loathing or wonderment of the entire zone. For example, The Undead may very well get a spot in the Hall of Records, but he is banned from the Hall of Fame (due to cheating accusations). So he may find a home here, if voted in. Fat Kat moves from the Hall of Fame to the Hall of Infamy. Same with that fool who once hacked the zone and lied to staff about sponsoring events with real life prizes. People have been screaming "Ma$e" and "DCR" to me about this area. Get the picture? They dont have to be cheaters, just personalities- that wouldnt quite fit into the hall of fame, although they are *famous*
These two subsections are more for popularity and personality , and will be only secondary links- with the "Hall of Records" being the more formal , who is the best of , taking center stage. They will basically be for sentimental or humorous reading, not Skill.
This evil project of mine (thanks to the J^F crew for help and ideas!) will take some time, but Im sure it will please most of you, and end the silly bickering.
Thank you to the two folks who actually decided to help me FF and Crawdaddy, as I am boggled with work now, as you can see. And thanks again to all the members of J^F who I expect will also help.
Dont ask to be on the voting email group yet, I'll let you know when. We have to finish this Hall-of-Ego-Trips first.
Congrats to HBK! Posted by maddok on Friday, January 18, 2002
Congrats to HBK, swz's new record holding highest scoring player! (278053544) nice going!

Back- Posted by Gold_Leader on Friday, January 4, 2002
Im back from my two month holiday, out of my undying addiction to this little shoot em up game... So I figured that I would pick up where I left off, with the hall of fame! The results and winners are already in, but I am faced with a dilema, as I have little to no time to write up these informational paragraphs about the winners. So I am asking those of you out there with good research and writing ability to contact me, if you would like to be a part of helping to get this HoF up as soon as possible (its already 2 months overdue!)
Job includes: -researching the subspace history of the person/s assigned to you without letting that person know what youre up to... -Keeping a secret. Ok its not that important but we'd like to keep the illusion of an actual award ;) -Writing a stunning snapshot of the inductee's subspace life, with a focus on events in our zone -Submitting it to me and allowing me to edit whatever the heck I please (wicked evil grin :)
If youre interested, drop me a line at mojo_gl@yahoo.com today! *I reserve the right to deny potential feature HoF writers based on intense discrimination of any sort, including a unbased general character judgement that youre just a lamer*
(but seriously, if you can write, and youre mature, and youre not out to write some BS hack/fluff job, give me a mail, lets make this happen, yesterday!)

Hasenpfeffer anyone? Posted by Mom on Tuesday, November 27, 2001
Mom. will be running Stealth Rabbit Events during the times the population is smaller.
Rules of the game:
A pilot from each frequency is chosen as the Stealth Bunny. He does not tell anyone who he is. His goal is to live longer than the opposing Bunny.
The pilot who kills the Stealth Rabbit will be added to the prize list with a cool 1000 bty. The names of the Rabbit Killers will be announced at the end of the game.
The Rabbit who dies, gets nothing.
The Rabbit who survives will continue on, still in secret, collecting 1000 bty for every round. After 3 rounds, that Bunny will be retired and a new one chosen. He will be added to the prize list.
The Stealth Bunnies will not be announced.
Hasenpfeffer 4 lb Rabbit 1 1/2 c Dry red wine 3/4 c Cider vinegar 2 ts Salt; optional 1/2 ts Freshly ground black pepper 1 Bay leaf 1/2 c Onions; chopped 1 tb Mixed pickling spice 1/2 c Flour 4 tb Butter 1 c Onions; thinly sliced 2 tb Sugar 1/2 c Sour cream
Cut rabbit in serving-sized pieces. Wash, scrape, and soak in salted cold water for 1 hour. Drain and dry.
In a glass or pottery bowl mix together the wine, vinegar, salt, pepper, bay leaf, chopped onions, and pickling spice. Add the rabbit and let marinate in the refirgerator for 3 days. Turn the pieces occasinally. Drain the rabbit; strain and reserve the marinade. Dry the rabbit with paper towels and roll in flour.
Melt butter in a Dutch oven or deep heavy skillet; brown the rabbit and sliced onions in it. Pour off fat and add sugar and 1-1/2 cups marinade. Cover and cook over low heat 1-1/2 hours or until rabbit is tender. Turn the pieces occasionally and add more marinade if needed. Taste for seasoning. Mix the sour cream into the gravy just before serving.

A Note on Mod Applications.... Posted by TC Dark Reign on Friday, November 23, 2001
When applying for a Mod position, please include answers to the following questions:
- Why do you want to be a Mod? - What makes you a better candidate for modship than the rest? - What do you think mods do?
Please be concise. A few lines on each question is good enough. Also, do not expect a reply to your application immediately or at all. If you have sent the application, then trust that it WILL be reviewed. Everyone who applies is looked over and discussed. Do NOT follow up your application by asking staff how it is progressing.
Applications can be sent to me at tcdarkreign@hotmail.com
New Mods, trainees and applications Posted by Wild. on Thursday, November 22, 2001
olive and wald0 have been added to the staff as Full Mods
Two new trainees have been added and the staff is still accepting applications.
The applications are collated and all the names are given to the mods and smods. Force has final say on who will be the next sacrificial lambs. If you have sent in an application previously, we still have your name and they will be kept on the list for each round. If you do not have time or have changed your mind, please email a staff member so we can remove your name from consideration.
Please do not ask the staff about the status of your application. If you get the email to us, then we have your name.

SWZ sub-arenas going Continuum only very soon! Posted by wald0 on Wednesday, October 17, 2001
On Wednesday, October 24th, all SWZ sub-arens will be Continuum only for playing. Subspace users will be able to enter the arenas and spectate but will not be able to enter ships. The purpose for this is to eliminate anyone who may be cheating in unsupervised elim arenas. If you need to get Continuum head on over to SubspaceHQ.com or Subspace.Net and download this new version of SubSpace.
Remember: this is for sub-arenas only, you do not need Continuum to play in the main flagging arena at this time.

Flagging map for main. Posted by RedThomas on Sunday, October 14, 2001
Ok, new map has been up for some time now and in my opinion it has proven itself to be extremely well made!
Last few days there were quite some INCREDIBLE flaggames: Thursday a great flagging game, Friday great privs (so I heard) and Saturday a 32 vs 32 flaggame for more then 4 mill (when I left that is, don't know how large it ended up being).
This proves the map to be well balanced. There are no bases which can't be overtaken (like in last map..) and bases are swapped a lot of times. Nice bomblines. Nice amount of good bases. Overall: a good map. How do you guys and girls feel about this map now you've been playing on it for a while?
Post your replies on forum, I'll create a new topic right away!
Huh? SWZT? Posted by wald0 on Saturday, September 29, 2001

Rosters will comprise of 3 players per team, 2 of which will duel another team. For more information on how you can join the tourney and for a complete set of rules, head on over to the SWZT web site by clicking on "SWZT" on the navigation menu you see at the top of the page, or just click here :).

New Map Posted by Gold_Leader on Sunday, September 23, 2001
SWZ now has a new map, courtesy of the swz map making guild! On behalf of that fine organization of underpaid workers, I would like to thank mainly Flying Fortress and Just a Decoy, who contributed most of the effort- literally spending ungodly hours staring at a screen until they were zombies. I'm sure these guys dream of tiles attacking them right now. Thanks fellas, swz thanks you too!
Not to mention the rest of the guild who either contributed Bases and Ideas, (HBK and Force) or those who churned out the tileset (Cuervo). And me, who basically didn't do anything but yell at people.
Check out FF's Post to contribute to some constructive criticism. After all this, he still wants to work more! The SWZMMG's work is never done...
May the Force be with us... Posted by Force on Thursday, September 20, 2001

20-09-01 May the Force be with us... Force
Heya folks, it's good to be here. Let me fill you in on what's happening with SWZ currently. Many of you will have heard rumours that our beloved sysop Tailchaser has decided to leave, this is in fact true.
The reasons for this are far from simple. It arose from a number of things: The horrific attack on the US and the licence people seemed to grow to vent their emotional grievances on others (everyone was guilty of this); the fact Tail has had alot of real life hassles to sort out and hasn't been able to spend as much time online as in previous months; other staff issues.
Let me say before any more rumour begins: Tail has only EVER done the best job here in SWZ. He has always been 100% honest and upfront about all matters to me and has always been considerate in his undertakings, especially to a rusty owner who didn't deserve to get the status reports he received. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Tail for all his contributions to SWZ in the long time he's been acting sysop, from the bottom of my heart.
So as of today i am your new acting sysop. I am a little out of my depth, it's been quite sometime since i Sysop'ed under the nick "Captain Harloch". Tail is still here helping me settle in.
My first intention is to have the new map up by the end of the weekend. I will keep you posted. If anyone needs to contact me, please do so: captainharloch@optushome.com.au or ICQ: 9596326. Staff should use these contacts to let me know of any problems/requests.
From all the staff, thanks for the support and we're looking forward to new things here in SWZ.

A word to the wise..... Posted by Clint01 on Thursday, September 13, 2001
 LATEST NEWS
====================================================================== 08-29-01 To all zone members TC ======================================================================
It has come to my attention, several people have been acting up in the zone, and on the message boards, about the goings on in the world. While you may have freedom of speech in your area, keep in mind, this is a privately owned GAME server. Yes that's right a GAME.
I have instructed the moderators to ban/silence anyone who says certain things. While it is ok to grieve over the loss of ANY life on this planet, we will no put up with:
1) Talking/suggesting its ok to kill/harm ANYONE. 2) Using player names to do #1 3) Using the message board is just the same as being in the zone. So #1 and #2 apply to the board.
Anyone caught doing this will be banned on the spot. I am not kidding at all about this, this zone is not to be used for that.
If you can not play a game with people all over the world, then you shouldn't be here at all, and leave on your own accord.
** NOTE **
If anyone is being harrassed either in the zone or on the msg board, please let me know about it. Your best bet is to log the conversation, and send it to a billing operator, such as PriitK.

All too often...... Posted by Clint01 on Wednesday, September 12, 2001
we forget what everything means to us. But when we see, that literally in a second, it can all be taken away, I would hope it wakes us all up to the evil that is in this world. Today was the most surreal day of my entire life. And I don't know a single person who has died in the incidents in New York, Washington D.C., and Pennsylvania. All day at work all I could think is "This just sounds like a movie. This can't be for real." I had to go to my car and turn on my radio to see for myself, and sure enough it was on every station. "America Attacked" they called it. It wasn't America that was attacked today. It was innosence, and any sense of safety and freedom we in this country have had. It has been my experience that time heals all wounds, but that is not always without a scar. My heart, thoughts, and prayers, as well as those of the respecive staffs of swz.net and SSCX Star Warzone, go out to all who have lost any loved ones in this act of utter disregaurd for human life. I know two good friends from ss that have lost loved ones but I will not mention names. I am terribly sorry you guys, and if there's anything I can do, I'm an email away, and if need be a phone call away. I know this entire post has absolutely nothing to do with subspace, but it does have to do with its players, of whom many become like one big family. So everyone please make the best of the time you have here with the ones you love, because at anytime, it could all be over. Rest assured in the fact that if we don't get whoever was responsible for this, God will. God bless all you guys and stay safe.

New Server Coming: Will Speccing for Flags be Gone Forever? Posted by wald0 on Wednesday, May 16, 2001
As posted in the SWZ Forum announcment (posted by Tailchaser):
"I want you all to get in on this subject. We will have the ability to not allow anyone speccing to SEE flags. Talk about it and come up with a general consensus for me."
Already many people have replied to this in the subject "No speccing for flags???", but there is still time to voice your own opinion!
Bot fixed Posted by WhizzBanger on Tuesday, May 15, 2001
There was a problem with that bot as some of you might have noticed. Keepin' the teams even was a bit of a problem... The bot was updated a couple of days ago, but something went wrong. When a player was captured by another player (the killer), the killer got assigned to the freq with the least players, but he was already on it 8) Fortunatly, the problem was fixed today. Thanks taily!
Having problems with Continuum? Posted by wald0 on Sunday, April 29, 2001
If you are experiencing anything out of the ordinary, or something is just really wrong with Continuum, the developers would sure like to know about it. To report a "bug" in Continumm, go to the Continuum Bug Report Forum.
** REMEMBER **
Continuum is "still" in beta, so none of these problems that currently exist will be a problem in the upcoming months.

Continuum Questions and Answers Posted by wald0 on Friday, April 27, 2001
As posted in the SWZ Message Board:
"1.do u have to reasign your nickname after downloading?
2.how long do they tend to keep updating ss with its dying population?
3.will there be less lag in zones *cough*"
1: No, nicknames and passwords are stored on the game server, and compliable with Continuum. The only thing you need to do is enter your name and password on the main screen. If you have forgotton your password, you can change it while IN a zone while on the Subspace client, by typing ?password=yourpasswordhere
2: As posted by DEAF:
""A year ago Subspace hit 1000 players, this was a historic event for us. It should also make people think how far we have come. Also make those other people out there that say Subspace is dying think over what they have said. Here we are a year later with 1000 easily hit nightly and peaking at approximately 1650 players." Blind io"
3:Lag is not caused or fixed by the game client. Lag is primarily the result of faulty routers (not owned or controlled by the people who dictate what goes on in Subspace/Continuum).
Also, many people have been asking if the servers will "accept Continuum." As far as I know, there should be absolutely no trouble with Continuum interacting with the server. Also, and this should be dualy noted, the gameplay environment is almost exactly the same as Subspace, so there shouldn't be any problems. Most of the changes are new commands, and just new fun stuff :)
Many people have also been worried about scores and such. As with the nick/password ordeal, this info is stored on the server (that's why we have resets every two weeks, so they don't blow up, hehe).
Basically the idea is, don't worry about the new client, just enjoy it. All the problems have been solved by excrutiating beta testing in the past few months, and you shouldn't have any problems at all.
Well folks, enough with reading this, go download Continuum!! And tell all your friends!
Happy Birthday Tailchaser! Posted by WhizzBanger on Friday, April 27, 2001
Yep, the old man gained another year to his already infamous high number! He made me not tell anyone how old he is at the moment... Anyway, happy birtday taily, we hope you will have fun today.
Interview With a Beta-Tester Posted by wald0 on Thursday, April 26, 2001
As the release of Continuum becomes nearer and nearer, we here at StarWarZone.net want you, the players, to be as informed of it as possible! Our very own head sysop, Tailchaser, lent some of his free time to me to answer a few questions about the upcoming release of this much-anticipated game.
wald0: What is your favorite change/alteration to the game as opposed to SubSpace?
Tailchaser: There are too many changes to pick just one out, all of them are sweet. But I like, no love the Alt-Tab chat.
wald0: Is there anything you would have liked to see added that wasn't added? Anything essential to you missing?
Tailchaser: The game is still being worked on, the features I want to see will be added soon enough.
wald0: Are there any changes you feel should have been left out?
Tailchaser: There have not been a lot of "Changes". Most of what is different between Continuum and Subspace are bug fixes, which everyone loves :)
wald0: Is the game made easier for staff? I heard that they can now see more things about the player (Anti-Warp, X-Radar, those types of things), like the old settings allowed any user to see?
Tailchaser: Yes the staff members can now see when a person is using some items.
wald0: Can you see other ships rolling? (this was a really "out of the blue" question, not sure why i asked it, hehe)
Tailchaser: Currently, you still can not see other players "rolling ships". This was not allowed in the old subspace client, probably due to extra data required in the packets being sent back and forth (you want as small of a packet as you can), and keeping track of other players rolls may have put a strain on some of the older computers.
This is but a very small glance into the world of Continuum, but as the time nears, so does the tension. Be on the lookout for a Continuum download here at the SWZ site in the next day!!!

A close call is worth 10 million points Posted by Heart Break Kid on Thursday, April 19, 2001
Well, it seems as if a group of Star Warzoner's ended up showing Zeta they can't win all the time. It was a very close call and Zeta had 15 seconds left to win the 10 million points(I know cause I had the last flags) but 15 seconds is a lifetime when it comes to SWZ flagging. Well, take a look at the pic for the list of winners. Congrads to those that fought very hard all 3 hours of flagging but didn't happen to win this time. The next 10 mil game will be in 2 weeks around 6pm EST so be sure to bring your friends and foes with ya.

Sorry for the late posting but it seems as if Zeta has won the 10 million jackpot game last Thursday. The game last well over 5 hours but Zeta pulled off the win at the end. The next 10 million jackpot will be next Thursday the 19th around 6pm EST. Bring your friends, squadmates, even your worst enemies and attempt to win the next 10 million jackpot.

EGAD! The EG'ers rocked us... Posted by Tailchaser on Friday, March 23, 2001
Ahhhhhhhhhhh... You guys let them win didn'y ya? :)
Anyway, good game tonight, lasted about 4 hours (although some ppl only showed up after it was 10 mil... cough. risin cough.)
You guys did great, even for being from an ez kill zone ;)
Only a few animals were hurt in the making of this movie... erm game! Yea. bannerman_99, Mintue, Annihilation(flag) were specced and had to be kept out of the game for their awesome lag (500ms-4000ms latency). GG Guys!

Say goodnight LAGGERS! Posted by Tailchaser on Friday, March 23, 2001
Heh... In light of last nights game and the 3 extreme laggers, i have started to tweak the lag settings again.
No one with latency above 500ms will be able to play for very long at all now. This should stop the ppl from laggin in and stealing flags, then exiting base without being killed.
This will only affect the extreme cases of bad lag, and not normal lag or medium lag (after all we all lag a little now and then :)
If you are experiencing problems, please contact me IN THE ZONE, and I will take a look at your lag info at the time.
Thank you PriitK for helping me with this even though you are soooo busy!

SWZ's biggest jackpot in history! Posted by Tailchaser on Friday, March 9, 2001
Thats right, the longest flag game and biggest jackpot was just played on this last Thursday night. The final jackpot was an amazing 26,984,700 points. An honorable mention must go out to all the pilots who stayed for the 12 hour plus flag game, congrats! (I don't know about the rest of you but my ass was wet!)
[Picture]
Also, in the Hall of Fame section I have added a couple of sections dealing with special achievements. Go check it out and send in your pics!
Congrats to the winners! Posted by Tailchaser on Thursday, February 22, 2001
I'd like to thank all of you for showing up for this event, and we look forward to the next game in 2 weeks time.
Cragrats to SnAzBaZ for passing the 100 Million points. Could he be going for the record high score? :) Good luck bud!
Only 1 incident of bad lag during this game. The Pickle! was being specced every 60 seconds automatically by the server for his awesome 2700 ms latency time (that means you'd have to hit him a full 2.7 seconds ahead of where he is to kill him). He was specced by the staff on numerous occasions, which finally lead him to sit out the game in spec.

New scores are out finally.... Posted by Tailchaser on Monday, February 19, 2001
Well the new scores are finally out, it seem to take forever for them to put them on the net.
G ! has had the #1 spot in our zone for the 2nd month in a row now. I would like to give some honorable mentions to SnAzBaZ and blackale for coming sooo close :) Keep up the good work guys!
Also a hint to the Star Warzone Squads if i may. Try to get your squad to play on the same freq, so that your squad rankings can be all that they can be. If you all work together towards a common goal, you will achive it! Besides, it just make sense, and will also get you ready for SWZFL :)
Congrats, and good luck this round!

As you may have noticed, three new bases have been added to Planet Coruscant, while the size of the Combs has decreased. The new bases come courtesy of Darkest Days, Abadx, and Machine-. Aditionally, the enterance to Droid Repair Station in Planet Bespin has been modified, in hopes of weakening it a bit. Finally, a brand new map is coming down the pipe. Here is what Tailchaser had to say at the Star Warzone Message Forum:
We will be changing the whole map soon, it will look like our old center in the middle, bases all on the outside look (the one with R2, G2 S18 etc).
Thanks to everyone who submitted bases. Keep up the good work.

Private Freq Night a success! Posted by Heart Break Kid on Friday, February 2, 2001
Well, we just ended up on a successful Thursday night of private freqs flagging. The zone ended up around 60 to 70 people in the zone which is pretty good. Especially around the time we had a nice 11 million jackpot game. That's right, the jackpot got up to 11 million points. I am not too sure on who all the winners were, but I do remember a few zetas on there, and myself of course. The game ended up going on for about 5 hours, maybe 6. I am not sure on the exact time since I only flagged about 2 hours til the end but I do know it was a long game.
Remember, this thursday night wasn't the 10 million game our beloved sysop, Tailchaser, host every other thursday. The next 10 million game will be next Thursday, Feb, 8, 2001 around 6pm EST. So be sure to enlighten your squaddies and friends about this. If you happened to be at tonight's 11 million game, you know what it's like fighting for a huge jackpot. The flagging is very intense, so the fighting for the flags can get out of hand but it is very exciting watching each team fighting for such a high jackpot. So don't miss out on the action next thursday at 6pm EST so you can try to win the big 10 million jackpot.
SSX is having problems... Posted by Tailchaser on Monday, January 29, 2001
Well I wanted to wait to post about this, but I can not get a hold of Xalimar BECAUSE of the problem.
The problem appears to be a router somewhere NEAR the SSX servers. The server is up and running, its just no1 can get to it :)
Once I get more information about the problem and when its going to be fixed, we will sure post more about it.
SSX is Moving! Be sure to "find servers" after... Posted by Tailchaser on Friday, January 26, 2001
SSX is moving, please make sure you know how to get our new ip address for SSX :)
The SSCX SERVERS will be MOVING once again, within a few hours now.
This means you will see the SSCX Star Warzone, and the rest of SSCX, OFFLINE.
When this happens, you will need to click the FIND SERVERS button to re-ADD SSCX Star Warzone to your list.
Then you will be able to play as normal.
Use sscentral.vie.co.uk as the ADDRESS in the FIND SERVERS dialogue box.
I recommend experimenting now with how to add servers, if you haven't done so in the past.
If you still don't know what to do, simply ask for help from our staff, type "?help how do i get the new server added"
Short and Sweet Posted by Heart Break Kid on Thursday, January 25, 2001

Well well , if you havent read the news.txt lately, it seems as if everyones favorite mod and friendly neighborhood swzl op HeartBreakKid, has been recently promoted to Smod. Its kinda like that scene in "its a wonderful life" when the depressed guy gets his family back and the angel gets his wings, only we dont get to watch it over and over again each year and its really not that much of a tear jerker... and HeartBreakKid isnt some stupid old man named Clarence who is an agent of God who will enrich and better our lives and keep us all from comitting suicide before we realize how good we have it and help us to see the beauty in all things... or is he?? -gasp!- (you make the call!)
In related news, somewhere, a small child smiles warmly into the sunset as he realizes the world is now a better place...

Congrads to winners Posted by Heart Break Kid on Thursday, December 28, 2000
Well, it looks like the 5 million jackpot game was raised to a whopping 10 million jackpot game by our truly loved sysop, Tailchaser. Was a very intense, laggy game. The game ended up going on for over 2 hours. SWZ had 70+ people in the zone. All we can say is, congradulations to the winners. Those 10 million jackpot winners are as follows:
Abadx Apparition Arcadian Garath jigga_3 Mastermatt syx * Trashcan Man Trint Xiao
Be sure to join us again, January 11, 2001, at 6pm EST for another whopping 10 million jackpot game. On a side note, if ya didn't happen to win this week's jackpot game, you might wanna try flagging in swz alot to improve your flagging skills and be sure to tell your friends and squaddies to come on over to Star Warzone for some real, high-impact, star-wars based flagging.
Default Subspace Download Zone Lists Posted by Tailchaser on Thursday, December 28, 2000
Ever wonder why DSB and EG are soooo busy? Well, the subspace download file contains a list of all the major zones. Well guess what? Only DSB and EG were working on the major download sites! This old zone list has been up SINCE the ZDTV spotlight on subspace, so where do you think all the new players go and stay playing, since more than likely they don't know how to get a new server list.
After a little more harassment, I have finally managed to get the major sites who offer subspace as a download, to update their very old favorite.lst file.

New Bot Posted by Gold_Leader on Wednesday, December 13, 2000
It seems as if StarWarzone has a new bot, for those of you who didnt know. It does its best to keep the teams even, and it seems to do a good job at it too. This bot will "capture and convert" you to the opposite team upon death, if the teams havent been evened during its warning period. If you want to avoid being "captured", avoid dying... I think this will be a helpful turn of events especially during large flag games, where freq hoppers run rampant! Some players may argue this, calling it rather an evil diety of freq changing doom, but hey, youre the one who DIED BUDDY and all your points are mine MUAHHAHA!
Oh sorry, pointwhore spasm there. Speaking of points, looks like Ummagumma and G! are going to beat me after all. Well Im through trying to get that high score (sniff sniff) and Im going right now to my girlfriends house, for life's other pleasure.
Galactic Territory Battles and Bans Posted by Gold_Leader on Tuesday, December 12, 2000
First off with the bans: Two cheaters were banned yesterday (hoorahh!) for which we can all feel just a little bit more secure in our travels throughout the galaxy. One of them was abusing zone policies and is on a few days "vacation" while another was an evil cheater of the most dubious sort who was network banned until hell freezes over, or at least until Dudley reaches puberty.
The other thing Id like to mention is a little scenario we held last night (or morning?) that I called "Galactic Territory Battle!". It started off as just a small fraying with flags in center, but soon turned into a huge slaughter fest! No bases were used, and the flags changed hands back and forth for a good thirty minutes! Finally the Battle for that particular part of the galaxy was declared indecisive, and the war fleets went their seperate ways, to fight again another day... (insert emotional theme music)
Hopefully we will run more scenarios like this one in the near future. Id like to incorporate more of the starwars theme into them , to add a bit of roleplaying (so you can feel like youre actually a rebel pilot or a sinister imperial). If youd like these and would like to see more done, or you have any ideas - let me know!
