neuting is good, why did someone make it illegal anyway?

What was happening with the nueting before:

The flags would return to center, there were lame pilots on a winning tean who would nuet for fun so their team wouldn't win. After several weeks of complaints, neuting was taken out.

So the option is to have the flags stay when they are neuted. The bot will announce where the neuted flags are unless that option in the bot is disabled (I think it can be, not sure)

Neut to center...if a pilot wants to give away flags he can just get himself killed. Neuting on location makes milking all that much easier.

I think we should try it out for 2 days or something, and see how gameplay goes.

2 days wont work. Just give it a week, then everybody has enough time to get used to it and give normal reactions.

Also neuts should stay on the location where they got neuted. And the bot shouldnt report neuted flags. Hiding flags is a nice flag tactic, and the last time I checked SWZ is about flaggin

val makes a good point. Neuting used to work because teams tended to be large and equal...there weren't nearly as many centerkillers back in those days as there are now. I think until there's a method to minimize centerkilling, neuting should still be illegal.

The longer a game gets, the bigger it tends to get. When there's a big JP, more ppl wanna play. So if neuting extends the flag game, how is that a bad thing? Centre-killing is going to be a problem with or without neuting. Neuting was an important tactic in SWZ when i started playing, and it was a LOT of fun to milk, or have more chance to take nme base because they're milking.

It's another aspect to the game, which makes it more fun and challenging. I dunno why it was taken out either.

If we combine neuting with a good map, I think it'd be a lot of fun again.

I agree with PL on this.

When i started playing SWZ there was the G2 map with neuting. As i remember it has always been fun. When a freq neuts the flags instead of winning, i think it brings forth a better game rather than 1 freq owning and milking for a long time. Right now when one freq is better, they win and then quit or spec. If a game lasts on, teams are more likely to grow and even out in strength.

So I wouldn't mind to try a week with neuting on G2 map at all!

Please NO!!

Let me guess. Everyone wants to allow tk'ing as well right? If anything neuting in the g2 base has sentimental value to you nothing more. Just like the old swz settings. They pale to the new settings.

Neuting would open up a whole new can of worms this zone is not ready for. We already have dieing pop, if you bring back neuting it will wipe it off the face of the internet. Neuting would be nothing but problems. But, if neuting does come back, the bot MUST be able to tell the location of neuted flags. If you dont want the location given, take the time and drop them.

Personnaly i think that neuting brings some interesting new tactics to flagging!
First of all, its more important to anti the enemy while attacking, otherwise they would just take flags and warp out again. It was cool.
downside is the milking, but peeps are still doing it nowadays too. they just take last flags and hang in front of base.

- whizzle

PS: Please NOT the G2 map! G2 is overpowered and lame. (No this topic is NOT for the map discussion).

I'm in favor of neuting. Most arguments being made against neuting are saying that they will promote milking, and create long boring games. As if many short lop-sided victories are any better? Long games = larger jackpots, which motivates people to play more.

Neuting is lame! It takes the fun out of flagging. People we be lame and neut the flags just to stop a team from winning. Then everyone will complain and it will just be taken out again. Im against it!

If neuting were set up, it would be like in swzfl, where the flags would remain where they are neuted (so you can't neut to save losing base unless they dont have anti on and you do it before hand, requiring some skill)

so perhaps re-consider some of those arguments

a new breed of lamers will arise
it will only encourage reccers to get flags, because they can just neut them whenever they want. someone prob already said it but i didnt have time to read the whole theread

A suggestion:

We can have one reset of no nueting, one reset of nueting with flags where they go to center, and one reset where neuted flags stay where they are.

It would be a six week experiment but then people can have an idea of what it would be like. We would use the same map all six weeks.

So, for instance, this reset would be the first part: G2 map with no neuting.

When I read the comments why we should NOT bring neuting back it all says the same:
"LAME, HIDING, ETC"

Whats wrong if reccers take flags and hide them? This will make sure that flaggers start to use skills.

I think that if you are against neuting its only because right now you can easy win flaggames, but with neuts you are afraid its not that easy anymore.

Bring it back, swz has been skillless flagging for to long.

Most "skilled" flagging zones allow it. WZ and ASWZ for instance. So for that reason I think we should allow it. Bigger jp=more ppl wanting to win the game. The longer a person tries to win the harder they fight for that win (hence they will play for longer and as other arrive and see so many ppl flagging they too will be more likely to flag...

Attacking NME base without anti is simply moronic and if they base hop its noones fault. We all want longer games anyway (ppl tend to leave the zone when thier frq loses).

Bot should give unowned flag coords. Reason: hiding flags is kinda lame with pub freqs cus if you hop to spec to find it can take a long time to get back on ur origional frq. We didnt make all the farking bases just so sombody can stash as flag as "insurance".

Most of the time ppl start neuting is when they win so many games in a row that vets feel like strething the game out a bit and giving the other team a "chance".

For the lamers that run around center with flags and then nuet when they are about to die thats just sad and pathetic. But hey thats what trash talking is for.

I find that the less rules a zone has regarding game play the more stratigies they have to choose from.

well i just think you will get lots of ppl just flying around with them for no purpose aimed at flagging. At least as it is now, most ppl who dont intend to flag and who want to rec, DONT pick up flags(most noticeable in the regular map where no center safes). They dont pick them up coz neuting is illegal and often ship change or spec to save rec.
You are gonna get all sorts of clowns picking flags up flying all over the place then nueting them when things get too dangerous.
That said, thats the only thing id say against it, so i guess the good number the bad..

In regards to the centerkiller arguments, as the zone settings are now, carrying a flag is more of a liability than a boon. If flag upgrades came back, then I could see a minor problem neuting would cause in center. As it stands, flags just slow you down, so there is a distinct disadvantage to employing such tactics in center.

I like Mom.'s idea. I say run with her idea and maybe see if there's some way to monitor differences in the games. Or maybe just pay special attention to how they go...anyway, it's got my vote for at least a trial run.

Mom/craw, I don't think we should have neuting that goes to centre. The only neuting we're talking about (or me at least) is where they drop wherever they are neuted.
