Can we stop hosting events when there are -25 ppl flagging. Or at least WAIT til the end of a flag game to host them? Too often when we got 60+ in the arena and could use the help of an event to reduce lag in the main arena they are NEVER hosted at these perfect times. This is a standard policy in other zones.IP: Logged |

yea that is one thing i hate is when i look at the count of ppl in the zone and it says 30+ then i get in and there are 10-15 or so actually playing the rest are in the dueling or elims zones.i think whoever made those bots for the off arenas... was overly happy and now they just run it too much. lets fix this, there hasn't been a big game in a long time. also (i know this doesn't have to do with the topic and i could have made my own but i am lazy) all these maps changes, as kewl as they are to see the older maps come back into play for the older players and even for the newer players, they get a new tatse of how it used to be.i think we should either stick with the new map (the one that was jsut recently made) or make a map that would go overtop all the other maps so that there is no need to change maps like this all the time. it is getting kinda ridiculous. I totally agree with you jad. I hate when I show up and bammm 10 ppl flaging yet 30 playing some other game. I use to love it when we had ~30 ppl on each freq and the game lasted hours. Oh well maybe they should cut down on some of the events when only 30 so ppl playing.KKF IP: Logged |

Events are SUPPOSED to be limited to 3 rounds that is another problem. It has not been a problem as of late, but SWZL pracs are also part of the problem. Some swzl refs are not swz staff so they are not aware that there is a 3 round limit. If you want to have pracs beyond 3 rounds go to SWZL we got prac bots in there so we dont even need a ref to run pracs in SWZL.Not trying to ruin anyone's fun or deny anyone thier God given right to prac. Just please be considerate of the zones main focus (flagging). IP: Logged |

Let me tell u a lil something. The main focus of the zone is not to flag or anything else. Flagging is just what u do, why would ppl go into events in the first place if they liked flagging better, no one is forced to do that. IP: Logged |

agreed jada couple times i saw 20 or 30 ppl in the zone and when i came in i see only 2 ppl playing in main. then i looked where the rest is, and yes they were in prac arena Giving events or pracs at those times when population is lower than 40 ppl is killing the zone. -Senti IP: Logged |

And I think someone needs to pop some little blue pills because clearly they don't have enough people in their lives giving them what they want. =PNow seriously, swz is a flagging zone, and as such it's main focus should be on flagging. Point made, it is that way already, 90% of the time there is a good flag game going on in main, even regardless of other events that could be happening. Sometimes people get bored of flagging, you can only have so much of one thing. Most of the time, when you have a large zone population, it's because one of these "huge long 30 on each team 5 hour long" flag games has just ended, and everyone is so sick of it they just quit. Thats when someone on the staff usually jumps in and holds a prac/event, and instead of all these peeps bored of flagging leaving the zone, you have them all moving into an event arena and playing this event. At this point, one or 2 others filter in, and find everyone in an event and not playing in main. Mods do NOT run pracs when population is high and a good flag game is going on, it's almost always at the start of a game just after a very long flag game. Pracs/events are also not exclusively held when the population is high, but when players ask to have them held mostly. When their is the choice of having 40 people in a zone, 30 in prac and 10 in main, I would choose that over having 10 people in the zone all in main. I'm really sorry some of you have to be disappointed occasionally, I feel for you, I really do! But it might not hurt to consider the reality of why these things happen and come to grips with that fact that no matter how hard you try, nothing will always go your way, and that until swz has a much higher population, you might just have to prac instead of flag once a month. note: as it is most mods will stop holding a prac if it begins to empty main or destroy a game there, if you notice it and it's causing you deep emotional trauma, do a ?help (please stop holding pracs the main arena is dead).

There are NOT good flag games going on while events are being hosted that is the god damn problem (sorry if youy cant see that maybe its because you are IN the event and not paying attention to whats happening to main?). Limit the events to 3 max including pracs take pracs to swzl after that so BOTH zones can do well.Events are being held for extended periods of time and as new ppl filter in the zone look around see that nothing really exciting going on then they leave. That is hurting the overall population. When ppl come back from the event see an empty main arena events over so they leave. This IS a problem. Sorry if you are too blind to see it. Mods ARE hosting events with no regard to whats going on to the flag game. I have seen events/prac be the cause of caps going out of play. I have seen it shift the tide of a game as half the "losing" frq will run off to the event. Dont act like this is not happening. I want to reiterate some ppl that have ref powers in ?go prac ARE NOT SWZ MODS so they have no care wtf happens to the flag game. I would have to agree with jad. The flagging games just haven't been what they used to be. Too many times a good game gets started and then a lot of people go to some event. Kills the whole game.[This message has been edited by wweii (edited 01-28-2002).] IP: Logged |

if more ppl choose to play a prac or an event.......say the number of ppl in prac outnumber the pop of main 2-1 or 20-10. the fact that they themselves have chosen to go to prac is a clear sign that THEY want to play the prac....they dont give a crap that you arn't happy stuck in main...and to be brutaly honest why should they...? the day i have to sit through 10 straight flag games is the day i stop playing, variety is the spice of life....and to say stop running events is just plain stupid. maddok is 100% right...after a mamoth flag game ill b damned if im gonna start another one which is when i head to duel or wateva...
and to b honest i havent noticed much damage to main...only i can actually only recall one time in the FOs arena...gold leader sayin he had to stop coz main was dead...isnt that good enuff? he realised and stopped hosting the event....i think everything is fine in regards to events and such

I agree with dyrus... If ppl wanna prac let em do that. And let swzt refs host if they can.If ppl wanna flag, they will flag and not go to the events. Flagging isn't everything in swz. What is more fun?10ppl flaggame or 4vs4 swzl?Wander IP: Logged |

I think the issue here is really centered around the swzl pracs going on in swz. Our other events (like elim or whatever) dont really attract that many players on a constant basis. Now, as most of you may recall, during previous swzl seasons most pracs were held in swzl, not in swz sub-arenas. Because in those days, swzl refs couldnt run pracs in swz. However, it was noticed that while pracs were being run in swzl, swz pop was being hurt as well. So this season we allowed swzl refs to host pracs in swz, to keep the overall pop in swz high. And thats a good thing. However, its a double edged sword. When pracs are being run now, its affecting the flag game in main more than before. So the solution? Heck if i know There really are only 4 options: a) Keep going the way it is now. b) Restrict the amount of events we run in swz. c)Remove swzl refs powers in swz-sub arenas so that they mostly run pracs in the swzl zone like before. d)Work to get a higher overall zone population so that the problem no longer exists. D would be the ideal solution, but its also the hardest. But thats the thing, the main issue here is that swz's population needs rebuilding. Personally, ive become so bored playing in swz.
Privs dont work because we dont have a map for it. And the games are only actually fun during peak hours, when we can have 2 or 3 competitive freqs. at all other times, the games stink. Pubs arent always fun because once again, theres so little competition. I've only lost 1 flag game that i started since christmas; thats so wrong, and not very fun. Its as if the semi-decent players in our zone dont have the balls to play against each other. They all flock to the winning team, and center killers gladly take the open spots on the losing team. Anywho, a few of us are working on something very new for swz, something that will hopefully attract and keep some more players to our zone. I'll keep you semi-updated (have to keep some secrets, hehehe )... IP: Logged |

Good points maddy and JAD...butttttttt Since this is officially a FLAGGING zone I find it amusing that SWZL events or practices get the most participation. Could it be the population finds dueling and SWZL like tactics more exciting. Time to consider these things instead of ignoring them and forcing FLAGGING like conditions down our throats. Yes I like a challenging flag game from time to time but I also like to diversify my skills. The visions of the SWZ creators we're appropriate for those times but the SS population has matured over the years and maybe its time to change. If your looking for ideas examine what makes the other zones tick. Hell even the VIE like chaos zones have more peeps during off times. I'm not saying to copy other zones but examine what attracts their populations. Maybe conducting a survey of our population would be a method of understanding what we all want. It seems to me that hard working SWZ staff has been throwing ideas out there in hopes of boosting the population almost like grasping for straws. Now we're left with numerous events arenas that hardly ever get used. I think zone boredom has been an issue for sometime. This effect trickles back to the staff and they to over time get bored or frustrated with the population. Maybe its time to step back and adopt the KISS (Keep IT Simple Stupid) principle. Just my thoughts.............. DOC IP: Logged |

We should let the events kill the flagging. Lag kills flagging far more often than the events. We have a lagobot but it is not online most of the time because people like fluffy(I know your not the only one so don't get all pissy) abuse it, therefore they must disconnect it, giving laggots free reign.IP: Logged |
