1. What is the next number in the sequence? 1 4 9 7 7 9 4 1 you need to show and/or explain how you reached your answer
2. If 1/3 of some number is 1/17 of 1/5, what is that number?
3. If you toss four pennies, what is the probability that you will get two heads and two tails?

Um, for the first one, is it 4? just a guess...for the 2nd question. its x/3= 1/7(1/5) x/3=1/35 x=3/35 so the answer is 3/35 for the 3rd question. its P(X=2)=(4ncr2)(1/2)^2(1/2)^2 =6(1/4)(1/4) =6/16 =3/8 so the answer is 3/8 IP: Logged |

1. What is the next number in the sequence? 1 4 9 7 7 9 4 11^2 = 1 2^2 = 4 3^2 = 9 4^2 = 16 1 + 6 = 7 5^2 = 25 2 + 5 = 7 6^2 = 36 3 + 6 = 9 7^2 = 49 4 + 9 = 13 1 + 3 = 4 8^2 = 64 6 + 4 = 10 1 + 0 = 1 9^2 = 81 8 + 1 = 9 So i guess the next number would be nine (9). 2. If 1/3 of some number is 1/17 of 1/5, what is that number?
1/3x = 1/17 * 1/5 1/3x = 1/85 x = 3/85 I think it is 3/85, but of not sure of that because it looks a little too simple. 3. If you toss four pennies, what is the probability that you will get two heads and two tails?
oh statistics, im bad at stats, lets take the long way T T T T (1) T T T H (2) T T H T (3) T H T T (4) (oh man that will be long) T H H T (5)(1) T H T H (6)(2) T T H H (7)(3) T H H H (8) i think thats it for the ones starting with T H H H H (9) H H H T (10) H H T H (11) H T H H (12) H T T H (13)(4) H T H T (14)(5) H H T T (15)(6) H T T T (16) same pattern as the ones starting with T if you put the two series together, and select the ones with H in second place there is 3 that are 2T 2H anyways i think the odds are 3/8 (my way wasnt as good as FF's way...) What do i win ?Edit : Oh, and Mom, now that i have your attention, i'd like to bring it on the fact that the Questions and Answers you use for your trivias are often (hmmm ok lets say "sometimes", often seems a little too often) outdated/wrong [This message has been edited by 911POZ (edited 06-03-2001).] IP: Logged |
