Having problems with Continuum?
Posted by wald0 on Sunday, April 29, 2001

If you are experiencing anything out of the ordinary, or something is just really wrong with Continuum, the developers would sure like to know about it. To report a "bug" in Continumm, go to the Continuum Bug Report Forum.
** REMEMBER **
Continuum is "still" in beta, so none of these problems that currently exist will be a problem in the upcoming months.

Continuum Questions and Answers
Posted by wald0 on Friday, April 27, 2001

As posted in the SWZ Message Board:
"1.do u have to reasign your nickname after downloading?
2.how long do they tend to keep updating ss with its dying population?
3.will there be less lag in zones *cough*"
1: No, nicknames and passwords are stored on the game server, and compliable with Continuum. The only thing you need to do is enter your name and password on the main screen. If you have forgotton your password, you can change it while IN a zone while on the Subspace client, by typing ?password=yourpasswordhere
2: As posted by DEAF:
""A year ago Subspace hit 1000 players, this was a historic event for us. It should also make people think how far we have come. Also make those other people out there that say Subspace is dying think over what they have said. Here we are a year later with 1000 easily hit nightly and peaking at approximately 1650 players."
Blind io"
3:Lag is not caused or fixed by the game client. Lag is primarily the result of faulty routers (not owned or controlled by the people who dictate what goes on in Subspace/Continuum).
Also, many people have been asking if the servers will "accept Continuum." As far as I know, there should be absolutely no trouble with Continuum interacting with the server. Also, and this should be dualy noted, the gameplay environment is almost exactly the same as Subspace, so there shouldn't be any problems. Most of the changes are new commands, and just new fun stuff :)
Many people have also been worried about scores and such. As with the nick/password ordeal, this info is stored on the server (that's why we have resets every two weeks, so they don't blow up, hehe).
Basically the idea is, don't worry about the new client, just enjoy it. All the problems have been solved by excrutiating beta testing in the past few months, and you shouldn't have any problems at all.
Well folks, enough with reading this, go download Continuum!! And tell all your friends!
Happy Birthday Tailchaser!

Interview With a Beta-Tester
Posted by wald0 on Thursday, April 26, 2001

As the release of Continuum becomes nearer and nearer, we here at StarWarZone.net want you, the players, to be as informed of it as possible! Our very own head sysop, Tailchaser, lent some of his free time to me to answer a few questions about the upcoming release of this much-anticipated game.
wald0: What is your favorite change/alteration to the game as opposed to SubSpace?
Tailchaser: There are too many changes to pick just one out, all of them are sweet. But I like, no love the Alt-Tab chat.
wald0: Is there anything you would have liked to see added that wasn't added? Anything essential to you missing?
Tailchaser: The game is still being worked on, the features I want to see will be added soon enough.
wald0: Are there any changes you feel should have been left out?
Tailchaser: There have not been a lot of "Changes". Most of what is different between Continuum and Subspace are bug fixes, which everyone loves :)
wald0: Is the game made easier for staff? I heard that they can now see more things about the player (Anti-Warp, X-Radar, those types of things), like the old settings allowed any user to see?
Tailchaser: Yes the staff members can now see when a person is using some items.
wald0: Can you see other ships rolling? (this was a really "out of the blue" question, not sure why i asked it, hehe)
Tailchaser: Currently, you still can not see other players "rolling ships". This was not allowed in the old subspace client, probably due to extra data required in the packets being sent back and forth (you want as small of a packet as you can), and keeping track of other players rolls may have put a strain on some of the older computers.
This is but a very small glance into the world of Continuum, but as the time nears, so does the tension. Be on the lookout for a Continuum download here at the SWZ site in the next day!!!

A close call is worth 10 million points
Posted by Heart Break Kid on Thursday, April 19, 2001

Well, it seems as if a group of Star Warzoner's ended up showing Zeta they can't win all the time. It was a very close call and Zeta had 15 seconds left to win the 10 million points(I know cause I had the last flags) but 15 seconds is a lifetime when it comes to SWZ flagging. Well, take a look at the pic for the list of winners. Congrads to those that fought very hard all 3 hours of flagging but didn't happen to win this time. The next 10 mil game will be in 2 weeks around 6pm EST so be sure to bring your friends and foes with ya.
